Name: Teari Age: 34 Gender: Female Rank/Craft: Wingsecond / Journeywoman Harper (Artist) Residence: Ithaca Weyr Description: Teari is constantly experimenting with different hairstyles and rarely goes two days with the same one. One day, on a whim, she decided to shave off all of her brown locks because she figured it would be more comfortable under her riding helmet. Now, she has an interesting, spiky hairstyle that makes her blue eyes stand out shockingly. Teari has a round face with a dimple on her right cheek and her eyes twinkle when she laughs or smiles. She is very short, not reaching 5 feet. Teari is neither heavyset nor thin, always remaining somewhere comfortably in between. Personality: Teari is almost always involved in some sort of creative activity. Painting is her favorite, and she alternates between creating life-like works and spontaneous splashes of color on weyrhide (or, in her younger days, on the stone walls of the Candidate Barracks). Teari is a very cheery person and is almost never solemn. Though a very positive person, the goldrider does have a fiery temper and will not hesitate to speak her mind. Once she has done so, however, she is quick to forgive and believes in giving people second chances. Background: Teari was born in Fort Weyr and spent the first 12 turns of her life as a weyrbrat. She is the offspring of a bronzerider who lost a gold mating flight and the drudge who was there to "comfort" him. Her mother told her never to forget that her father was a bronzerider. Wisely, Teari also never allows herself to forget that her mother is a drudge. When she was 12 turns old, Teari apprenticed to the Harpercraft Hall. Though the endless lessons bored her and she was hard-pressed to sing a note that wasn't off key, Teari was fascinated by art. Upon becoming a Journeywoman, Teari returned to Fort Weyr and began informal lessons on sketching and painting. She soon discovered that not only weyrbrats were interested, but the adults of the Weyr were, as well. Teari began to make a very good living through her teaching and also discovered that many dragonriders would give their last marks for her lifelike portraits of their dragons. Teari was Searched when she was 19 turns old, and the first thing she did upon moving into the Candidate Barracks was to enlist the help of some of the other candidates in giving it some color. The Weyrlingmaster was not too thrilled about the erratic splotches of bright color on the drab grey walls, and demanded to know who was responsible. Teari immediately stepped forward and admitted that it had been all her idea, earning the immediate respect of her fellow candidates and latrine duty for her entire time as a Candidate. The latrine duty proved worth all her hard work when Teari Impressed Gold Aometh on Fort Weyr's Hatching Sands. After a few stunts as a weyrling, (including giving Aometh bright purple feline stripes) Teari began to settle down. Though she will never lose that fun, youthful streak, Goldrider Teari knows that there is a time and a place for fun. When it comes to dragonriding, Teari is all business. When the announcement came that a young Weyr in the West was looking for a Goldrider, Teari jumped at the chance. Though she was happy at Fort, she recognized the overabundance of Queens at her own weyr and took it as an opportunity to help a new one. Dragon's Name: Aometh Color: Gold Age: 15 Age of Rider at Impression: 19 Description: Aometh is an average sized gold. She is a uniform, medium color, not being as bright as some golds or as brassy as others. Her nearly scar-free hide is evidence of the dragonpair's diligence in Threadfighting. Personality: Aometh is an easy going gold, as far as queens go. She isn't overly fussy or demanding, and doesn't really bother herself too much with what the bronzes are up to, except when she is due to rise. Teari can always tell when her lifemate will rise to mate, as Aometh becomes very flirtatious and irritable. Teari puts up with these moods with a smile. Some golds are like that all the time! she tells herself. After mating, Aometh settles down and remains calm both during and after clutching. She isn't fussy with who comes to look at her eggs and loves to show them off. Candidates who stand for Aometh's clutches aren't faced with a red-eyed queen but rather a motherly type who croons her encouragements to her babies and their prospective lifemates alike. |
