Head Cook (In-Training) Cabrin
Name: Cabrin Description: Cabrin is a handsome, hirsute young man of medium height. He has dark brown eyes, curly dark brown hair, and almost perpetual scruff – even though he shaves almost every day. Personality: Cabrin is a hardworking, down-to-earth person. He has little time for either laziness or stupidity. Although he tends to be genial, he can become grumpy and downright surly when overworked or stressed. Unfortunately, since he is only one step away from being the Head Cook at Ithaca Weyr, stress and overwork happen with a fair amount of frequency. When he does relax, however, he is possessed of a good sense of humor. Though not possessed of an overly empathetic personality, when he comes to care about someone he is a loving and steadfast friend. Background: Born on the Southern Continent to a family of Beastcrafters, Cabrin was orphaned at a young age. His mother died in childbirth, and his father was killed in a runnerbeast stampede within the same Turn. Raised by his paternal grandfather, Cabrin learned self-sufficiency and common sense at a fairly young age. The two were very close, in part because they were very much alike in their sensible temperaments, and in part because they were each other’s only family. The only bone of contention between them was that Cabrin did not seem to take very well to the family craft. Cabrin is at his best when in the kitchens; he is very close to being a savant and has an aptitude for both cooking and baking. He has risen from obscurity as an unofficial apprentice to a competent journeyman in the craft, first in the south and then at Ithaca Weyr when he came north with Klaree, Jenessa, and his weyrmates: his partner C’kle, his best-friend/surrogate brother Stavan, and Stavan’s partner Z’nyl. Since Klaree and Jenessa are close to retiring, Cabrin has all but taken over the Head Cook duties and he seems to be headed for that position despite his young age.
