Blue Rider H'lonard

Name: H'lonard
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Rank/Craft: Blue Rider
Residence: Ithaca Weyr

Description: Standing at 5'11" tall with dark hair and eyes, H'lonard is a typical Southerner with permanent, nearly-golden tan. He has a lively face and is considered good-looking by many a green's rider.

Personality: Even though he's a man with somewhat reckless, fun-loving and outgoing personality that is also equipped with a good sense of humor, H'lonard's tolerance is still occasionally stretched near breaking point by the many practical jokes and prank-like actions that his lover and weyrmate for the past eight Turns - C'ander - is so well known of.

Jovial and intelligent, H'lonard is loyal to all his friends, both old and new. He enjoys holding parties and going into them just as much as C'ander, but just as well the blue rider likes a quiet night spent snuggled under the blankets with his lover, whom he is very much in love with.

Background: Born to a green rider in Eastern Weyr who didn't want to be bothered with raising a child, the little Helionaiard was fostered away almost as soon as he was born, and he never learned to call just one woman his mother, as his upbringing seemed to be a joint effort by the Lower Caverns people. Just as well, since the boy was very lively and curious, getting into everything he shouldn't, whenever he managed to escape the watchful eyes of the many 'aunties'.

Always big-hearted and wishing to ease others' suffering, the youngster saw himself as something of an unofficial dragonhealer apprentice and didn't even dream of more, before he was Searched for the eggs during his sixteenth Turn of life. One failure on the sands didn't prevent him from trying again one and a half a Turn later, when he felt more comfortable with himself; having passed through most of puberty already, and the little blue Hammasth chose him from the ranks of boys hopping from one foot to another on the hot Hatching Ground sands.

About ten months into his weyrling training, H'lonard and Hammasth were called to the site of a Fall by a queen dragon that had seen something moving in the long grass below. The blue weyrling pair found themselves rescuing another youngster with sun-bleached blonde hair, torn clothing and dark, soulful eyes full of tears as he believed he was going to die. Even before they landed in front of the Infirmary back in the Weyr, H'lonard had already lost his heart to the entrancing stranger.

The lost-and-found youngster, Cayander was only one and a half Turns younger than H'lonard himself, and he had fled his home-hold in rather stormy conditions due to the fact that his father couldn't accept his sexual orientation, and didn't believe he could ever return, as he confessed to H'lonard during their first night together. After Cayander - or 'Cay', as H'lonard preferred to call him - had survived through a severe case of wound-fever, they became lovers and weyrmates, and later that same Turn, Hammasth Searched Cayander, who indeed did find his own green dragonet bursting from a shell.

For the first six months of his lover's weyrling training, H'lonard busied himself as best he could with extra duties to take his thoughts away from C'ander, as his lover was now known, but as soon as Ristith was old enough to be able to handle the peculiar sensations and feelings experienced by her rider, the lovers were enthusiastically rejoined and became weyrmates once more. And as the green rose to mate for the first time, Hammasth won her flight, and every one of her flights after that. Since that first flight he has only half-heartedly chased after other greens, as his rider's heart is not in the competition.

Transferring to the new Weyr on Western Continent when it was being established, H'lonard and C'ander have become well-known of their habit of allowing pretty much any other interested male in their bed, while still being able to keep those relationships at most on the level of being friends. They haven't quit this habit even after getting recently married, explaining that they don't feel their love threatened by others' presence.

In fact, H'lonard has often described the love he feels for his carefree lover as intimate as the dragon bond he shares with Hammasth. Apart from his lover, the people the blue rider cares most about in Ithaca are their friends Sallana, who recently Impressed, as well as blue rider P'velin and green rider Or'mus.

Dragon's Name: Hammasth
Color: Blue
Age: 9
Age of Rider at Impression: 17

Description: An azure blue dragon whose colouring darkens towards his hindquarters and tail, Hammasth is smaller that the average blue, but as this means greater agility and speed, he would be the last to complain. His stamina isn't very good, however, unless it is for Ristith's mating flight, and sometimes he has had to return from Threadfall earlier than most blues. This is something both he and H'lonard accept as a fact and neither will try to push past the limit of the blue's endurance.

Personality: As devoted as H'lonard is to C'ander, Hammasth is to Ristith. He will not permit any other male dragon even come close to her when she is about to rise, without him being there as well, to keep an eye on her and especially keep track of her flirting. However, at other times, he is just as talkative and friendly towards other dragons as his weyrmate.
