Description: M’sar is stocky and of medium height (5’8”).  He has short, light brown, curly hair and merry hazel eyes. His nose is slightly crooked, the result of a long ago lost boxing match. His expression is usually open and friendly.  He has a sensual mouth, which is, more often that not, set in a half-smile.

Personality: M’sar is jovial, charming, and a witty conversationalist. He has a good sense of humor and usually plays the role of comedian at parties. Getting laughs has always come easy to M’sar – so easy in fact that it has also become both a defense mechanism and a hindrance to real intimacy; when in doubt, fall back on a joke. M’sar is patient and possesses a genuinely sensitive nature, but too often his clownish antics have relegated him in the eyes of potential love interests to the role of “guy #2”: the goofy, but well-meaning friend who gets to listen to his would-be lovers’ woes.

As might be expected of someone who tends to open his mouth a lot, M’sar has been in his fair share of squabbles over the Turns; he’s not afraid to fight.

Background: M’sar was born in the South on a farmhold, where he resided happily. He was Searched in his sixteenth Turn and Impressed his first time out on the sands. At the Weyr, he found that it was acceptable to be open about liking men as well as women, and had the usual dragonrider experience of playing the field as frequently as he wished.

As M’sar moved into his twenties, he began to look for more serious encounters, but found that none of his relationships ever seemed to work out. By his late twenties, after dumping or being dumped by several men, all of whom had cheated on him, he gave up on the male half of the species. Unfortunately, his experiences with women turned out to be just as unsuccessful, but with one difference: before his last lover left him, she told him that it was difficult for anyone to take him seriously. Feeling disgusted with the human race in general (and greatly worried that there was some truth to his partner’s words), M’sar decided to leave the south and transfer to the Western Continent.  He lives at Ithaca Weyr now in the hopes that a fresh start will give him a different venue in which to break out of the unhealthy behavioral patterns that seem to keep sabotaging his personal life.

M’sar has one somewhat unusual skill: he’s a pugilist. He learned to box while still at his farmhold and has engaged in any number of matches, against both dragonmen and non-dragonmen alike, over the Turns at various Gathers. He has become very successful at the sport – he was the equivalent of the middle-weight boxing champion in the territories controlled by his Weyr in the South.  His success if facilitated by a naturally strong constitution and a high pain tolerance.

Physical Description: Semarith is a bright shade of blue. His neck and eye ridges are a shade or two darker than the rest of him.

Personality: Semarith is friendly, easy going, and affectionate. Just about anyone can get on his good side by giving his eye ridges a scratch.
