Name: S'algon Age: 46 Gender: Male Rank/Craft: Wingsecond Residence: Ithaca Weyr Description: S'algon, like his weyrmate, is tall and lanky with wiry musculature befitting a man of good stamina but with more than forty Turns on his shoulders, since neither him nor Ae'nos care to work out enough to maintain the bulkiness some younger riders so aspire to achieve. S'algon's hair is bright, golden red, almost orange in the right light, and his eyes are so dark brown as to border on entirely black. S'algon (also known as 'Sess' to his lover) has a habit of often going without a shirt in temperatures considered definitely freezing by most others. He is helped in this by the curly red hairs that cover his chest, stomach and limbs quite thoroughly. His face will acquire a fuzzy cover of beard in the same striking colour, whenever he goes without shaving for any period of time. Compared to him, Ae'nos is quite hairless and his short-cut hair is black and straight Personality: Not much will faze this brownrider, whose only regret is not having been born fifty Turns earlier, when his relationship with his long-time friend and lover, Ae'nos, would not have been regarded as anything curious. In S'algon's opinion no woman should ride a green dragon in any case, since it is their duty to bear and raise children, on whom the future rests. Threadfighting should be left to men. He doesn't often voice this opinion, however, since he wishes not to cause strife in the Wing. He has a habit of looking after younger riders, even if they didn't know or approve of his vigil over their well-being. Background: Born and raised in a mountainside mining hold in the northernmost reaches of settlement on the whole of Pern, Sessalgon was found on Search in the early Turns of the Present Pass, when clutches were large and the need for new, fearless riders was at its greatest. Ever since weyrlinghood, he has teamed together with the green-riding Ae'nos, who became his closest friend, then, as Turns rolled by, weyrmate - and eventually lover. Being a brownrider with male greenrider lover isn't always easy in a modern day Weyr, but S'algon usually just points out that he doesn't favour men above women, like most blueriders do; he simply favours Ae'nos over anyone else. Both men have long since grown tired of the hectic lovelife of many dragonmen, and have grown comfortable and content to be just with one another. During the Turns at High Reaches, S'algon has served in several Wings, including those that flew over the area currently protected by Ithaca Weyr, and has also successfully held the rank of a Wingsecond in a Wing or two. He gave up his rank when requesting a transfer to the fledgling Weyr, but upon seeing the serious lack of responsible bronze- and brownriders, he put himself forward as a Candidate for that position again, figuring that his long experience could serve a greater good than his own well-being. Dragon's Name: Kunerth Color: Brown Age: 30 Age of Rider at Impression: 16 Description: Kunerth is a large and heavy-built brown, with neck and tail shorter than would be the norm for a dragon of his wingspan. This imbalance makes him almost as slow to turn as a bronze, but he has long since learned to compensate when fighting Thread. Personality: Although his wingspan might give him advantage in drawn-out mating flights, Kunerth is much too lazy to chase after every green in heat. His only interest, really, is his mate, Seith, whom he guards jealously, whenever the green starts showing signs of proddiness. When duty calls, however, Kunerth is always ready for action. He is a level-headed dragon, and has a sort of an Old Uncle attitude towards dragons younger than him. Reserved Characters: Ae'nos, rider of green Seith * rider's age: 47 * dragon's age: 30 * S'algon's weyrmate and lover * formerly JM Weaver (tailor) |
