Description: The most common word that is used to describe Sallana is "plump." Yes, the word is usually teamed up with "pleasant", and Sallana is just that. She is of average height, above average build and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her round, turned up nose is covered with freckles. Sallana either has a smile on her face or tears running down it.

Personality: Sallana is a very loving and kind person, being described by some as having a "good heart". Being somewhat simple of mind, she makes up for it in her compassion for others and an overall likeability that makes her a hard person to dislike.

Background: Sallana was raised at a small holding that specialized in raising runnerbeasts. No one is quite sure of her parentage, only that she appeared on the doorstep of the Holder's family when only a mere babe. Though wild harper's tales circulated as to the origin of the babe, Holder Timal privately believed she was the offspring of a simple drudge who hadn't the ability to raise her.

Timal raised the little girl with his four other daughters, though tradition deemed Sallana wasn't to be held to an equal status as Timal's own flesh and blood.

Sallana was not bothered by the fact that she was being raised to be merely a member of the kitchen staff. She stood proud in the fact that she could poor klah and hardly ever spill. When Sallana was fourteen, however, her little world was stirred up when a bronze dragonrider whisked three girls, herself included, to stand for the clutch hardening on the Hatching sands.

It was apparent to the simple girl that Weyr life was nothing like the life she had left behind at the hold. Surprisingly, Sallana adapted quite well, despite the fact that there were still quite a few things she didn't understand. She decided that Impressing a green dragon would be just right for her.

Sadly, not all candidates Impress and Sallana was an unlucky one. Would she have to return home? Sallana was not so sure she wanted to. Thankfully, the choice was hers, to go or stay.

Sallana fell into Weyr life with ease, quickly making friends and doing well in her job as a kitchen worker. She decided that she would never, ever leave the Weyr, even if she never impressed. (Though she knew she would get a green dragon some day!)

Sallana impressed a bronze firelizard from an egg given to her from her "very bestest friends." Though she still wished for a dragon, the little 'lizard has made the wait ever so much more bearable.

After standing and failing for yet another clutch and failing to Impress a second time, Sallana wiped her tears and said, "At least I have Cuddlytail!"

A funny thing happened to Sallana at the Weyr. She began to grow up. In the search for her family, Sallana met and fell in love with a bluerider, who in turn fell head over heals for the simple, loving kitchen worker girl.

Bluerider P'velin decided to take his beloved to meet a friend of his who had recently transferred to a fledgeling Weyr in the West. Much to P'velin's surprise and secret dismay, Sallana was Searched during their visit to Ithaca.

Though it saddened the girl to leave behind her friends at her old Weyr, she simply could not turn down the opportunity to find her lifemate. P'velin, deciding life without Sallana would be a dismal place to be, transferred to Ithaca Weyr to await the outcome of the Hatching.

Sallana made the right decision, for upon Hatching Day, green Izzyith chose Sallana for her lifemate.

Description: At first glance, Izzyith seems to be an average sized, young dragon. When taking a second look, however, one can see that she isn't quite what would be deemed proportional. Izzyith appears to be just a bit too wide and a bit too short, giving her a rounded appearance. Her color is what really is noteworthy. She is the bright green of newborn plants during growing season. Indeed, with her shape and color, Izzyith is almost comical in appearance.

Personality: Izzyith is extremely friendly and talkative, and often excitedly introduces herself to the same dragon many times throughout the day, just to be sure he or she doesn't forget. The young green will then launch into a one-sided conversation about the latest thing she has learned, how wonderful all the weyrling classes are or how she has the "very bestest lifemate in the world."

Though most dragons are fairly tolerant of the cheery, chatty young green, more than one has told Izzyith to "go bend a tail." Undaunted, Izzyith will bid the annoyed dragon good day and find someone else to chat with. Or, better yet, she will talk with the smartest, most wonderful creature in all of Pern: Sallana.

Pet's description: Cuddlytail is the perfect match for the happy-go-lucky Sallana. He is rather well-behaved and as smart as can be. Sallana has surprisingly proved very adept at firelizard training, and as a result of her training and his natural, easy going nature, he isn't prone to normal mischievous flitter behaviors, such as stealing food and being bothersome. Sallana constantly bathes and oils Cuddlytail, and her care shows itself in the firelizard's bright bronze sheen.
